Will stop working in a year or two (2009-07-09)
I've owned two WD Passport drives and both of them have stopped in a little over a year - just enough for the warranty to run out. Suddenly all computers just stop recognizing the drive even if it's connected and the lights are on.
If you want to keep your drive and your data, go with a Seagate.

This item is simple to install and use and performs very well. It is totally portable.
Seek times are fine I can't tell the difference between my main hard drive, the My Book powered drive and this item.

So far it's working great for me, light weight, small, going good! I'm using the Windows Vista backup tool. It took a long time to do the first backup (250GB) - sth like 10h, but now the weekly backup takes around 20 minutes. The only downfall is that it doesn't come with a case.

I've had 0 problems. It's just like a flash drive but massive. Really small and easy to use. No cons at all for me. 100% Satisfied with this product, if you are thinking about buying it, do it.
My second WD (2009-07-08)
I've previously bought the 320GB model and been travelling with it for more than a year. It is robust and has never let me down so I bought the 500GB as storage always seems to disappear. Can't wait for the 1GB version!
